New stores and new dining on Lincoln Road

Lincoln Road Dining Updates – After putting Wynwood’s GiGi on the hipster map, Top Chef Jeff McInnis is slated to open his own southern style restaurant Yardbird Southern Table & Bar at 16th & Lenox, part of the dynamic new Alton Road dining corridor where the Herzog & de Meuron Eleven Eleven Lincoln Road Building now serves as a catalyst for upscale patrons. McInnis partners with the 50 Eggs Restaurant Group, the money behind the very successful Lime Fresh Mexican Grill chain. The western edge of the popular pedestrian mall is now home to Rosa Mexicano, Haven GastroLounge, Sunlight Miami organic cafe, AltaMare seafood grill and a long-awaited second location for organic Asian fare served up by ChowDown Grill’s Joshua Marcus.

News of the sudden closing of long time Aventura restaurant Chef Allen’s was followed by a second shocker as Purdy Avenue’s favorite watering hole Joe Allen closed it’s doors. Economic pressures take their toll on the local culinary market where gourmet burgers, Asian bun & noodle bars and the popular gourmet food truck scene have captivated the imagination of budget conscious foodies. New York’s Shake Shack will be joined by 5 Napkin Burger slated to open at 455 Lincoln Road this summer where nearby local favorites World Resources Cafe and Miss Yip’s Chinese recently closed pending relocation.

Elsewhere in restaurant news, flush with a wildly successful opening run at Mary Brickell Village seafood restaurant Oceanaire, Executive Chef Sean Bernal brings his deft seafood skills to the Delano Hotel’s Blue Door Fish where he will serve as Executive Chef. Following a brief stint at Lincoln Road’s Sushi Samba, Bernal announced that he was moving on to open his own restaurant.

Previous news – The dynamic 1111 Building at the west end of Lincoln Mall recently hosted a Brazilian inspired bash.

Babalu Miami now offers unisex jewelry, perfume, candles, home accessories and travel goods at their new store in the 1111 Lincoln building.

The opening of Osklen, a contemporary sportswear boutique from the sexy folks who brought you “The United Kingdom of Ipanema,” was celebrated with free cachaça cocktails and their irresistible summer-ready clothing, swimwear and accessories. But like all good things on South Beach be warned that the delicacies you are about to experience may be extremely habit-forming! During the opening preview, the shop donated fifteen percent of the evening’s sales to the Miami Beach BASS Museum of Art.

A new parking structure opened on the north side of Lincoln Road Mall at Alton Road and adds much-needed public parking and upscale retail shops including Inkanta Design Store, Taschen Books, Y-3 Sportswear, Journelle Lingerie, MAC Cosmetics, Nespresso Coffee and Osklen Clothing.
