Shopping for a unique gift for friends and family can be a tough job when it seems like most stores have much of the same old stock. Enter Inkanta Design Store, a Colombian chain offering an international roster of super mod housewares, art objects and collectibles tucked in the base of the Herzog & de Meuron building at 1111 Lincoln Road. A seemingly perfect marriage of tenant and landlord, the Inkanta flagship strives to provide up-to-the-minute merchandise sold in a shop housed in the most cutting edge building in town.

The storefront has a museum gift store vibe with white on white displays and glass shelving. What better way to focus the ambitious shopper’s eye on bold primary colored serveware, futuristic wall clocks and trendy gifts. The store design is in itself noteworthy as the back wall of textured aluminum is pierced and backlit to look like a secret passageway to an exclusive inner sanctum. Fashionistas will thrill to the Andy Warhol key fobs, watches by Alessi, Lexon and ODM, bold leather passport folios and fun travel-ready board games.

With Father’s Day just around the corner, a quick survey of the edgy desk accessories, quirky bar tools and brightly-colored clocks makes finding something for the guy who has everything just a little bit easier. A Philippi Design chrome plated stainless steel world globe that’s magnetized and comes apart like a 3-D jigsaw puzzle will keep Dad more distracted at work than updating his Facebook page.

The 1111 Lincoln Road building has hosted a series of opening parties attended by a who’s-who of local socialites and revealed bold new facets of it’s contemporary design with each tenant’s shop launch. Like a fan dancer who teases spectators with just a bit more skin at every turn, this summer promises more excitement as the Shake Shack, Alchemist and Rosa Mexicano have also inked leases at the Mall’s red hot west side destination.
